Main Toolbar

The Main Toolbar contains a variety of buttons for commonly used operations. These include file operations, scrolling and zooming, document navigation and controlling the display of other toolbars and windows. Most of these commands are also available on the Main Menu but the main toolbar is more efficient.

File Open

Open a drawing file. This is typically used to open a file that isn't part of a project, but it can be used to open a project drawing. If you are working within a project, it's much easier to open drawings using the Project Toolbar

File Save

Save the information for the current drawing as part of a project. This is only needed when you are working on a drawing outside of a project. When you work on a project drawing, your work is saved automatically.
When you press this button, the Drawing Properties Window is displayed. Complete the information in this window (including assigning it to a project) and press OK. All subsequent changes to the drawing will be saved automatically.

File Print

Zoom Out

Press this button to zoom out on the drawing (see less detail but more of the drawing). Each time you press the button, the drawing is reduced by the zoom percentage. The zoom percentage can be set using the User Preferences Window. This button will be disabled when the drawing is viewed at full size.

Zoom Full View

Press this button to view the entire drawing.

Zoom Rectangle

Press this button to zoom in on a particular area of the drawing. After pressing the button (it will stay down), click-down on one corner of the area, drag the mouse to the opposite corner and release the button. As you drag, a rectangle will be displayed to show the zoom rectangle.

Shortcut: The buttons above zoom in and out in different ways. But the quickest way to zoom is to point the mouse at the area you want to see in more detail, then roll the mouse wheel forward (away from you). The mouse wheel is a roll-able control between the mouse buttons. Your mouse may not have a wheel.
You can also zoom out by rolling the wheel backwards.

Bird's Eye Window

Previous

As you navigate from drawing to drawing or view to view within a project, Dimension keeps a historical record. Press this button to go back to the previous view or drawing. You can press the button multiple times to go back multiple steps. The navigation history includes the following types of navigation:

  • Selecting a different drawing
  • Following a hyperlink to another view or drawing
  • Switching drawings by double-clicking on a measurement or annotation in the Quantity Worksheet Window
Zooming and Scrolling actions are not added to the navigation history

Next

  1. The Download Project Wizard is displayed to create a new project and/or define the subfolder usage for the download.
  2. The Download Drawing Selection Window is displayed to select the drawings to be downloaded.
  3. The Main Download Window is displayed to show and change the status of drawings being downloaded.

If this option was selected previously, the first two steps will be skipped.
