Adding up multiples of the same item across a set of plans is tedious, especially if you work with electrical and mechanical drawings. Our patented pattern search, also called symbol search or auto count, does the counting for you. Just select a symbol for an item such as a smoke detector. Dimension will search the plans and automatically generate a count—all in the background as you continue to do quantity takeoff. It’s that easy.

One measurement—tons of information
Streamline your quantity takeoffs even more with our Dimension assemblies. Take off the length of a wall, for example, and the assembly will generate all the wall’s component quantities—from studs to drywall sheets. Then, if you estimate with Sage Estimating, use e-Takeoff Bridge to transfer the data either automatically or by dragging and dropping the assembly into your estimate.

Sorting the details
How many different ways do you, your company, and your customer need to look at your takeoff and estimate? On complex projects, a master list of work breakdown structure (WBS) codes could reach into the hundreds. Dimension lets you easily assign work breakdown codes such as location, estimator and change order as you do your quantity takeoffs. Simply highlight a specific item on the drawing, or an entire section, and add the related code. Need to change a WBS code across multiple items? Use our filter feature to find everything tagged with the code and change it all in one fell swoop.

If you receive a revision to an existing drawing, just do an overlay to see the differences between the two drawings and easily adjust the quantity takeoff.
