eTakeoff Import

eTakeoff Import is designed to quickly name and organize construction drawing files for use with electronic takeoff software. It has the following general capabilities:

  • Import files from Disks, CD-ROMs or scanners.
  • Separate multi-page files into individual files.
  • Organize drawings in multiple sub-folders underneath a main folder.
  • Quickly view the title block of each drawing and name it.
  • Automatically add the drawings to an eTakeoff project for use with the eTakeoff Plan Viewer.

FTP for General Contractors

FTP is an Internet protocol that allows an Internet site to work much like a file server. Many General Contractors (GC’s) are using FTP sites for plan distribution due to its initial low cost and relatively short implementation timeframe. However, this requires subcontractors and suppliers to acquire and learn to use unfamiliar FTP software. eTakeoff eliminates the cost, learning ramp-up time, and potential GC support requirements by providing simple, direct access to GC’s FTP site through eTakeoff.

eTakeoff’s FTP integration works with your existing FTP site to provide the following benefits:

  • In eTakeoff, you set up the FTP information for a new project.
  • A small file containing your FTP information is generated and emailed to subcontractors as an attachment.
  • Subcontractors simply double-click on the attachment to start eTakeoff, set up the project with the FTP information and view the list of drawings.
  • When the subcontractor clicks on a drawing, it is automatically downloaded, saved locally and displayed.
  • Measurements can be taken directly from the drawing without having to print them out.
